Welcome to Camp Wing Day Camp

Camp Wing Day Camp Summer 2020 Plans

We are very sorry to share the news that we will not be able to offer in-person camp this summer. This has been an incredibly difficult decision and is based on two considerations. The first is the health and safety of your children. Day camps were recently classified by the state as being cleared to open during Phase 2, but the MA Department of Public Health (DPH) has not yet published regulations. However, the emerging guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the American Camp Association (ACA) pertaining to social distancing, use of common space, hygiene and sanitation, and required PPE/safety equipment, presents prohibitive obstacles to the implementation of our programs.

The second consideration is whether we could actually provide the summer camp experience that your children deserve and upon which Crossroads prides itself. Quite simply, the activities and adventures that your children love—dragon canoes, swimming, arts & crafts, team sports—cannot be meaningfully experienced wearing masks from a distance of six feet.

Ultimately, out of deep respect and concern for all members of our community, we cannot compromise the safety of our campers or staff—nor take chances on others’ health in the homes and neighborhoods where they return each evening. The reality is that the known risks loom large, and the unknown risks even larger.

As a mission-based organization, we take very seriously our responsibility to others and to the larger society. We know that many families are facing significant childcare challenges and are seeking high quality experiences for their children in the face of prolonged restrictions and limited options. To address these needs, Camp Wing Day Camp will offer three, 2-week virtual camp sessions, from July 6–August 14, 2020. Our staff—including some of the counselors your children have come to know and love—will offer up to three hours of innovative and engaging programs each day, via an online platform. You will find additional information about content and registration in the FAQ’s below. There will be no charge for this programming, but we are requesting that families consider making a $50 contribution each session to help underwrite basic expenses.

Thank you for understanding the difficult decision to pivot to “virtual summer camp” this year. We know that you count on us to play an important role in your children’s lives, and we will work diligently to provide them with joyful, fun, friend-filled experiences this summer. It may look and feel different, but we know that we can keep the magic alive until better days arrive.

Camp Wing Day Camp Program Options

Grove Program
Serving campers who are entering kindergarten at the end of summer, and who are currently in Kindergarten.

Younger campers participate in smaller group activities throughout the day to offer them the additional support and supervision that they might need. Grove campers enjoy specialized activities geared toward kindergarten and first grade age groups.

General Camp
Serving campers completing 1-7 grade.

We offer an exciting variety of activities throughout the day. Our co-ed groups are coordinated by age, so activities can be tailored to meet the needs of all campers. The camp has three divisions: Forest, Ocean, and Jungle. Within the divisions, small groups of campers follow a pre-established, well-rounded daily schedule which offers the opportunity to try a variety of activities during the camp session. There’s also a chance each day for campers to select, with guidance from their counselor, a group choice activity period.

Leaders in Training
A leadership program for campers completing 8-10 grade.

The Leaders in Training (LIT) program offers opportunities for teens to mentor younger campers through helping counselors and learning to run activities. The LIT program also includes programming designed to engage teens.

ServiceCorps
For participants completing 10th or 11th grade and who are interested in working at camp (age restrictions apply).

ServiceCorps members are teens who have demonstrated strong leadership skills as well as a strong desire to work at camp. Campers complete a Crossroads Staff Application and traditional interview process and serve as ‘Junior Counselors’ throughout the summer. ServiceCorps are paired with full counselors and work on various activities.
