A Great Day for a Great Cause: The 12th Annual Crossroads C5 Golf Classic

Updated: Oct 17

On September 23, 2024, the beautiful Wianno Club in Osterville hosted the 12th Annual Crossroads C5 Golf Classic. This fundraising event brought together golfers, sponsors, and members of the Crossroads community for a day of friendly competition, great prizes, and fellowship around the mission of Crossroads. All proceeds went to support Crossroads and its transformative C5 Leaders Program, dedicated to empowering young leaders from the Greater Boston area.

Inspiring Alum Speaker: Maliyah Hunter

This year’s Golf Classic featured special guest alum speaker, Maliyah Hunter, who began her journey with Crossroads in 2016. Now a fourth-year Honors Biology student at Northeastern University on the pre-med track, Maliyah also serves on campus as the Director of Public Relations for the National Society of Black Women in Medicine. Her speech highlighted the life-changing impact of the C5 program and inspired attendees to continue supporting Crossroads' mission, adding, “Not everyone’s journey to success is the same and I am taking my own path. As we like to say in C5, trek your own trek.”

Raising $400,000 to Support the C5 Class of 2029

The Golf Classic plays a crucial role in Crossroads' fundraising efforts. This year’s ambitious goal is to raise $400,000 by year-end to support the newest class of C5 Leaders—100 eighth graders known as Flints. The funds will cover the $4,000 annual cost per participant, as they begin their five-year journey to dream big and create a future of their making.

Proceeds from the event, including the wagers many golfers made to see if they could Beat the Pro (some did beat the pro!), inched the tally closer to reaching the goal.

The Impact of the C5 Leaders Program

The C5 Leaders Program provides Boston-area youth with a five-year path focused on leadership development, civic engagement, community service, intentional exploration and planning for college and/or career success. Teens learn skills that enable them to exemplify the 5 Cs: character-driven, community-focused, challenge-ready, college/career-bound, and committed to a better future.

Alumni like Maliyah are testimonials of the program's success, demonstrating the powerful impact of Crossroads on students' lives.

Help Us Reach Our Goal

The Golf Classic was a big step toward reaching our $400,000 goal, but your support is still needed. Donations will help fund the incoming class's first-year experiences, empowering young leaders to thrive. Please consider donating to support these future changemakers.
