Last Thursday, we welcomed over 200 members of our extended community to celebrate Crossroads’ summer Homecoming at our Virtual Urban Campfire event. We’re proud to share that, with support from our dedicated event sponsors and donors, we have raised almost $675,000 towards our $1M Crossroads Homecoming campaign goal!
We also want to recognize the tremendous outpouring of support during the event. The Crossroads community contributed over $26,000 during our livestream, and through a special matching gift, doubled their impact to secure over $50,000!
This generous affirmation of our mission will provide: a joyous return to camp, leadership empowerment programs, academic enrichment through our Summer Learning Academy, and COVID-19 readiness to over 750 children and teens this summer. Moreover, this Homecoming will help to empower Crossroads youth as they build the futures they wish to see.
Reflecting on her Crossroads’ journey from C5 Leader to full-time staff member, our alumna speaker Mercedes Aponte shared: “Now as the Community Action Coordinator, I get to unlock doors for our leaders and connect them to their passions. Youth voice is centered, valued, and included….I am not the first nor the last person who has been affected by this program. We are the experts: progressive, authentic, and always relationship focused.. At the end of the day, people just need to know there is someone that believes in them, no matter what happens.
